Ringing in your Ears?

Blogged because There's many that suffer. I Acknowledge all sources and references.

How to Solve Tinnitus

By Frank Dioso, an eHow Contributing WriterTinnitus, or ringing in the ears, is commonly experienced by millions of people worldwide. There are numerous types of tinnitus. The most common ones include high-pitched hissing, chirping, screeching and ringing. Tinnitus is not a disease but a symptom that results from innumerable causes such as trauma to the ears, insertion of foreign objects, loud noises, allergies and excessive wax buildup. Tinnitus can be very disturbing if you have it. In most cases it is not a serious problem, but rather a hassle that may go away.
Difficulty:
Moderate

Instructions

  1. Consult your physician and have her check your ears for excessive wax buildup. Ear wax that has accumulated in your ear canal can narrow it and cause tinnitus. Do not buy an over-the-counter ear wax removal kit without first talking to your physician. These kits will not eliminate thick ear wax buildup, and the ear wax may require a medical instrument to remove it.
  2. Avoid places and things that cause loud noises. Loud noises are one common cause of tinnitus. These include loud concerts, road construction and motorcycles, all of which can trigger ringing in your ears and may even loss to a hearing loss. Buy earplugs to protect your ears in a very noisy environment. Staying clear of loud noises will reduce the ringing in your ears.
  3. Stay away from foods high in saturated fats, sugar and salt. Also avoid coffees, alcohol and teas. These kinds of foods can aggravate your tinnitus. Eat a lot of fresh vegetables and fruits daily to help stimulate your blood flow, which will gradually stop your ears from ringing.
  4. Lower your blood pressure if you have been diagnosed with high blood pressure (hypertension). Hypertension is known to cause and aggravate tinnitus. Talk to your doctor and have her put you on medications that will lower your blood pressure. When your blood pressure is normal, the ringing in your ears will cease.
  5. Talk to your doctor if you are currently taking drugs such as ibuprofen, birth control pills or aspirin. These medications can cause tinnitus. If these medications cause your tinnitus to become unbearable, talk to your doctor immediately. She might prescribe alternative medications that don't cause tinnitus symptoms.

Tips & Warnings

  • Consult your physician before trying to self-treat tinnitus.

Cutting The Edge of Community Stuff

There was a sudden flurry of activity due to activism from the community, well by community I mean three or four people who were complaining, but activism from the community, I thought , sounded better.

There were laurels cut to an approximate height of  about 4 ft along a set of back fences, after being well over twice that size originally and incredibly full of rubbish and allsorts. Two days it took to do the work.
Other work went on for another two days too.

The non-complainants (or the I don’t give a shit brigade)  originally said “privacy, privacy, I’ve lost my privacy”, but the Powers That Be replied “Security, Security, Improved Security – Visibility brings/enables detection.” At which point those acting like enraged chimpanzees were succinctly despatched into to a quieter state of being.

The illicit happenings and dealings behind the laurels, and the smoking of perturbing substances, has stopped – as the Don’t Give A Shit Brigade are feared by the I’m Determined to Do Wrong brigade, hence a sort of median existence has been achieved. That median being that the Don’t Give A Shit Brigade aren’t pestered by theDetermined to Do Wrong Brigade hanging about anymore.

And the Don’t Give a Shit Brigade never thanked me for a reasonably pleasantly presented area being created from the chaos – albeit by the contractors with chainsaws.

Foods Not For Dogs

I got this from a website ages ago.

I cant BELIEVE the amount of stuff on the list

Can you believe this? And IT WAS from a Bona Fide Vets Site too.

Q.
Which foods could be dangerous for my dog?

A.
Some foods which are edible for humans, and even other species of animals, can pose hazards for dogs because of their different metabolism. Some may cause only mild digestive upsets, whereas, others can cause severe illness, and even death. The following common food items should not be fed (intentionally or unintentionally) to dogs. This list is, of course, incomplete you can not possibly list everything your dog should not eat.

Items to avoid

Reasons to avoid
Alcoholic beverages
Can cause intoxication, coma, and death.
Avocado
The leaves, seeds, fruit, and bark contain persin, which can cause vomiting and diarrhea.
Bones from fish, poultry, or other meat sources
Can cause obstruction or laceration of the digestive system.
Cat food
Generally too high in protein and fats.
Contain caffeine, theobromine, or theophylline, which can cause vomiting and diarrhea and be toxic to the heart and nervous systems.
Can cause vomiting.
Fat trimmings
Can cause pancreatitis.
Fish (raw, canned or cooked)
If fed exclusively or in high amounts can result in a thiamine (a B vitamin) deficiency leading to loss of appetite, seizures, and in severe cases, death.
Contain an unknown toxin, which can damage the kidneys. There have been no problems associated with grape seed extract.
Hops
Unknown compound causes panting, increased heart rate, elevated temperature, seizures, and death.
Human vitamin supplements containing iron
Can damage the lining of the digestive system and be toxic to the other organs including the liver and kidneys.
Contain an unknown toxin, which can affect the digestive and nervous systems and muscle.
Can depress the nervous system, cause vomiting, and changes in the heart rate.
Milk and other dairy products
Some adult dogs and cats may develop diarrhea if given large amounts of dairy products.
Can contain multiple toxins causing vomiting and diarrhea and can also affect other organs.
Can contain toxins, which may affect multiple systems in the body, cause shock, and result in death.
Onions and garlic (raw, cooked, or powder)
Contain sulfoxides and disulfides, which can damage red blood cells and cause anemia. Cats are more susceptible than dogs. Garlic is less toxic than onions.
Persimmons
Seeds can cause intestinal obstruction and enteritis.
Pits from peaches and plums
Can cause obstruction of the digestive tract.
Raw eggs
Contain an enzyme called avidin, which decreases the absorption of biotin (a B vitamin). This can lead to skin and hair coat problems. Raw eggs may also contain Salmonella.
Raw meat
May contain bacteria such as Salmonella and E. coli, which can cause vomiting and diarrhea.

Rhubarb leaves
Contain oxalates, which can affect the digestive, nervous, and urinary systems.
Salt
If eaten in large quantities it may lead to electrolyte imbalances.
String
Can become trapped in the digestive system; called a "string foreign body."
Sugary foods
Can lead to obesity, dental problems, and possibly diabetes mellitus.
Table scraps (in large amounts)
Table scraps are not nutritionally balanced. They should never be more than 10% of the diet. Fat should be trimmed from meat; bones should not be fed.
Tobacco
Contains nicotine, which affects the digestive and nervous systems. Can result in rapid heart beat, collapse, coma, and death.
Yeast dough
Can expand and produce gas in the digestive system, causing pain and possible rupture of the stomach or intestines.
Xylitol (artificial sweetener)
Can cause very low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), which can result in vomiting, weakness and collapse. In high doses can cause liver failure.

WATCH THIS DOG GO!

Notice the suspect behind the car, apparently firing a gun - you see the smoke from the muzzle, and a split second later - the Shepherd Police Dog leaps across the roof of the auto, clamps onto the suspect, and brings him down so quickly - you'll have to watch it several times to really appreciate the valor of this dog.

This police dog is so fast, you have to watch this a few times to appreciate it.

Go dog, go!!

A saved doggie...

A Woman's dog is drowning in the sea.
A passing German tourist dives in, pulls out the dog, resuscitates it & saves its life.
'Are you a vet' asked the woman.

'Vet?' said the German 'I'm Fucking soaked!'

Observations

I have a lot of stuff to deal within life,
- and a lot of people who I've spoken to in relatively benign ways on twitter.

Some are imagining their lives and creating an on line presence beyond that of their own life.

Some are brutally honest, some are frustratedly honest, some are comic communicators on lifes twists and turns.

Some create a missing hole or missing part of their lives.

And there are people who cant help but be real.

Its a very difficult mix. A complex virtual interactive world.

I have observed this, and in some ways, have been disturbed by created egos and false natures and characters portrayed. It may be therapy for some, who knows.

In some ways, however,  I have been impressed with honesty, with pleading for recognition, with launchings of inner selves to the impersonal and yet sometimes intensely personal world.

I arrive at a point where my own honesty and disclosure , even in couched terms, is then dropped within two hours from peoples memories.

There is a gap I found - SINCERITY.

So therefore Shall I be a clown? Shall I be a forfeiture? away from reality?

No. Shall I still be honest and disclose even in riddles and conjecture my innermost being?

Shall I draw close to supposed reality of the ones that appear real and yet forget me within minutes?

Is this our true human future? one of smoke and mirrors and tales of sadness or success hidden by pretences?

Shall I succumb to the mediocre worlds of Swimming pools being closed , and I just had a shit? Shall I just accept that people want a world outside their own that is benign and harmless without accountability?

Interaction in this way, is sometimes therapeutic, sometimes enlightening, sometimes fun - in other times it is incredibly like strolling into a black hole of mental confusion.

Will people be real with me? I await my experience of this world of Twitter to find who is and who isnt in full understanding that life is not a plaything, but within it you can play.

And people think i'm dumb?
I leave you with my thoughts. Dwell on them and consider carefully all your interactions, virtual or real. They ALL matter in different ways to different people.

But Make a difference. Be Excellent Today.

What is the meaning of "smurf".?

This was a post I found AND IT WAS POSTED 4 years ago.
As this year is the 50th Anniversary of the Smurfs I thought I'd share it with you.

Smurf (disambiguation)
Smurf can refer to:
The Smurfs, fictional tiny blue humanoids created by Belgian cartoonist Peyo in 1957 .
Smurf attack, a type of denial of service (DoS) attack on computer networks
Smurfing (crime), a term related to money laundering .
Sheree Murphy, a British actress nicknamed "Smurf" .
...........................................................................................................................................
Groups referred to as "Smurfs"
United Nations peacekeeping troops, because of their light blue helmets
Ultramarines in the wargame Warhammer 40,000, a joking reference to their blue armor
The Finnish word smurffit and the Spanish word pitufos, both meaning "Smurfs," are sometimes used as slang for the police
In military slang, "smurffipuku" ("Smurf suit") is a name for the standard blue jogging suit used in the Finnish Defence Forces.
Members of the Finnish BDSM support group SMFR .
The Smurfs (Les Schtroumpfs in French) are a fictional group of small sky blue creatures who live somewhere in the forests of Europe. The Belgian cartoonist Peyo introduced smurfs to the world, but English-speakers perhaps know them best through the animated television series from Hanna-Barbera Productions, The Smurfs.

I didnt highlight all the words containing SMURF blue, but assume I did

Love you all

Augmented Fashion

I was looking at some fatigue style clothing the other day wondering if the look would work, and I didnt need this Goggles thing for phones, I didnt need wikipedia, or anything technical at all.

There I was WONDERING what it may/may not make me look like i.e. twat / cool /hot / fashionista etc AND A REAL ARMY GUY walked past- in fatigues outfit. REAL TIME augmentation.

Apart from thinking Cor he's Hot,  - the Fatigues Look Worked on Him.

Then I KNEW. That look is Cool.

Then I thought  All I was trying to do was to emulate something, and the guy who walked by - I could NEVER emulate him and the idea of buying the outfit vanished from consideration.

Thank You Augmentation. I will send you a Christmas card.

Delivery boys hung around for a bit

After being sighted in Argentina, the next sighting of my delivery boys was:

______________________________
26 January 1967 19:30 - Garden Grove, California , USA -   Hovering objects were observed. Two objects, larger than a star, were observed by two witnesses for ten minutes (Robinson).
______________________________

I rest my case.

Am I alien?

This could be a sighting of the craft that delivered me to this planet.
_______________________________________________
26 January 1967 14:30 - Rio Juramento, Argentina -   Flying discs were observed. Two discs were observed by two witnesses for over three minutes (Saulnier).
_______________________________________________
They'd flown from Southern England after dropping me off. It took me a couple of years to learn the language and be able to think like a human, and I grew to the programmed Assimilation design.

I think Ive got it relatively sorted now.
I have a few episodes where nothing makes sense, but quickly recover.

HOW many Social Tenants could AFFORD to set up businesses anyway? Most have trouble surviving a fortnight till next payment. There may be Some Social Tenants that can afford it, but surely the majority couldnt.

Here's the SPIN from the Press Association -It was put on Twitter by Grant Schapps, or one of his people.

Twaddle or not- you decide:

Council helps home business tenants
A council has announced plans to change its tenancy rules in a bid to help people living in social housing start their own businesses.
Hammersmith and Fulham Council intends to remove a clause in tenancy agreements that prevents people in council or housing association properties from using their home for any form of trade or business.
The move will enable the local authority's 17,000 tenants and leaseholders to run businesses from their own homes for the first time.
It believes it will be one of the first local authorities in the country to actively encourage its tenants to set up their own businesses without them having to pay for expensive office space.
The council said residents would be fully consulted on the change, which should enable people to run businesses ranging from web design to being full-time sellers on eBay.
But people will be prevented from setting up businesses that would have a negative impact on their neighbours, such as fast food outlets or motorbike repairs.
Stephen Greenhalgh, leader of Hammersmith and Fulham Council, who set up a medical education and publishing company with his father, said: "I started my own business and know how hard you have to work to get it off the ground and keep it viable.
"We want to sweep away the barmy rules that hinder council tenants.
"Our proposals will set every entrepreneur, from the teenage computer whizz to the grandparent who makes exquisite crafts, free to plot a path to business success from the comfort of their own living room."
Housing Minister Grant Shapps said: "I want all social tenants with the ambition, drive and vision to set up their own businesses to be given all the help they need to do so."

Memory isn’t perfect

We all have Bullets within the soul: memories without any link to anything else, they fire off at random for no reason.

Here's some of my random ones

There was a walk by a car park and saw some dumped rubbish with a trolley tipped sideways on top of it, and I seriously thought it was a dead body, called the police and they checked, and laughed.
When was this? Where had I been? Where was it?

Then there was the time I was driving a mini metro and got hit in the fog, and the kebab shop owners came out with knife sharpeners (and knives) to “check on my welfare”
What year was that? Where was I going?

There was the time when a Labrador wouldn’t leave me alone on a park roundabout and humped and humped and scratched me up a lot.
How old was I? I was young, that I know.

Then there was the time when I woke in a hotel room, with the guy who was sharing the room having pizza all over him. Did I do that or did he fall asleep and spill it.
What was the hotel called? What year was it? I think his name was Darren?

There was a Rabbit in Graham’s garden. It used to come when it was called.
What was it called? What was the house number, and road Graham lived on?

Have fun with YOUR memories.

Share them in the comments.

Coffee break giggle

A petrol station owner is trying to increase his sales, so he puts up a sign which reads; Free sex when u fill up.

Moments later johnny pulls in, fills his tank and asks for his free sex. But the owner says if johnny was to claim it, he first has to pick the correct number between one and 10. He guesses 8. Sorry said the owner it was 7, no sex this time.

A week later johnny pulls, fills up and again asks for his free sex. This time he guesses two. Oh so close the owner says, sorry.

This game is rigged, johnny huffs you don't give away free sex at all; thats not true the owner replies, ask your wife she won twice last week.

Star Wars-style holograms: a new hope?

Novel plastic could enable real-time 3D holographic projections.

The fuzzy three-dimensional (3D) image of Princess Leia calling for help in the 1977 film Star Wars demonstrates an effect that researchers have long been trying to achieve: holograms that move in real time. Now, a material that can store shifting holographic data moves the fantasy into the realms of reality. The substance could have future applications in medicine and manufacturing, as well as in the entertainment industry.
"From day one, I thought about the hologram of Princess Leia and whether it can be brought out of science fiction," says Nasser Peyghambarian, an optical scientist at the University of Arizona in Tucson, who has been trying for several years to develop holographic projections that move in real time.
The challenge was to find a rewritable material that could store data encoding successive holographic images. Now Peyghambarian and his colleagues have developed a material that can record and display 3D images that refresh every two seconds. The research is published inNature this week 1.
The team's system captures 3D information by filming an object from multiple angles, using 16 cameras that each take an image of the object every second. The 16 views are processed into holographic pixel data by a computer, which sends a signal to two pulsed laser beams that then write the data into the recording material.
During the writing process, the two beams combine to create an interference pattern of light and dark patches in the recording material. Firing another light at the pattern reconstructs the 3D image.

Electron drift

In a static hologram, the physical properties of the recording material are permanently changed by this interference pattern, so the image can never be refreshed. In contrast, Peyghambarian's team has developed a rewritable recording material from a combination of plastic polymers, dubbed PATPD/CAAN. When the laser beams hit the copolymer, they cause electrons and other charge carriers within it to drift and gather in areas corresponding to dark and light regions of the interference pattern, creating a temporary recording. The stored image can then be overwritten by the next round of image data to be displayed.
“Creating a dynamic hologram of the size and resolution of Princess Leia is a reality.”
In 2008, the team used a similar material to build a 4-inch display that took about 4 minutes to overwrite 2. Now, they have modified the mix of polymers to develop a 17-inch display that refreshes more than a hundred times faster, generating an image that changes in almost "real time", says Peyghambarian.
Although 3D televisions are already on the market, these are filmed from just two perspectives. So they give a sense of depth, but "you cannot walk around an image of a person and see the back of his head", says Peyghambarian.
He hopes that, along with revolutionizing entertainment, the hologram technique will one day enable surgeons to remotely view live 3D images of operations and give advice. It might also find uses in manufacturing, allowing engineers to visualize and modify 3D models in real time.

360 degrees

However, Rob Eason, an optical physicist at the University of Southampton, UK, points out that the holographic images are still relatively slow and small, and questions whether the technique significantly improves on other recent advances in 3D displays. In 2009, for example, Sony unveiled a prototype called RayModeller. It projects a moving 3D image within a cylindrical tube, allowing the viewer to walk all the way around it and see different perspectives.

Peyghambarian counters that a scaled-up holographic system would provide "superb resolution. We can already make a holographic pixel of 400 micrometres — better than a high-definition television."
He adds that it should be easy in principle to record holographic movies, so they can be played back later. The team is now working to speed up the refresh rate to match the 30 frames per second needed for movies, and to reduce the amount of power needed to read and write images.
Peyghambarian believes that some version of the system could be in homes within seven to ten years: "We have shown that creating a dynamic hologram of the size and resolution of Princess Leia is a reality." Now he just needs to build an R2-D2 to play it on.
